Bright Ideas - Camp and Sleepovers
We had a
"Magical Day Camp" just before Halloween but it would have
been fun any day of the year.
I started using ideas from the SPARKS
SAMPLE MEETING - "Magic Night" but expanded on the idea to make it a
whole day. In the morning we made ourt crafts which transformed all our girls
into fairy princesses. We bought fun foam crowns at a craft store for the girls
to decorate, as well as the crafts seen here:
http://www.girlguides.ca/media/pdfs/14-3/sparks_magic.pdf
Then in the afternoon we had some
"magical experiments" from this site: http://www.exploratorium.edu/science_explorer/
I did the "balloon blow-up" as a demonstration,
but the girls got to try the "remote control roller" and the
"black magic"themselves. The girls also had fun when we made
"Slime" out of cornstarch and water. If (when) I do it again, I will
add a couple more experiments for them to do as they were done a little quicker
than I thought.
We also played Halloween versions of
games, like duck duck goose (Cat, cat witch) and Farmer in the Dell. (Hey Ho it
's Halloween) , as well as the Abracadabra game listed in the Spark Instant
meeting.
We ran out of time but we also had planned
to play "Grave Yard" but I was going to call it "Sleeping
Beauty". The girls all had a great time.
We had two Brownies also attend (with
their leader moms) and they had a great time too.
