Bright Ideas - Camp and Sleepovers

Harry Potter Camp

We had a Harry Potter camp with our Guide Group and they thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact they are still talking about it.

On Friday when the girls arrived at camp we had them set their gear in the middle of the sight and put up their tent .

We then held a Sorting Hat Ceremony. The girls placed the hat on their head (which held a walkie-talkie) and the hat decided which house they belonged in. The girl was then given her house scarf which she had to wear for the whole weekend. They were also given a canvas bag that held an activity booklet and several Harry Potter Text Books.

The girls were also told that house points would be given (and taken away) throughout the weekend.

The girls then set up their sleeping gear in their house.

Saturday - Rise & Shine, dressed, had breakfast and clean up.

  • They then had Potions Class (made slime) .
  • After the class they held Quiddich practice. This is a combination of dodge ball, basketball and Capture the Flag.
  • Afterwards we had lunch and clean up.
  • After lunch we had Herbology Class (Eco-system in a pop bottle).
  • It was then free time and snack.
  • Then it was time for Care of Magical Creatures (made Bluebird Bird Bath with clay pots, paint and foam shapes). We then filled the pots with dirt and gave them a bag of bird seed to take home.
  • It was then time for the Quiddich Tournament. A great time for all.
  • Then time for supper and clean up.
  • After supper it was time for Transfiguration Class (mask making & decorating).
  • They then played a game (Find the Snitch) - yellow tennis balls where hidded throughout the campsite. (House points were given for balls collected in a time period).
  • We then had a hike through the Forbidden Forest. Girls were given coloured glow sticks for the hike.
  • Then snack and campfire. Bedtime then followed.
  • On Sunday we had breakfast, cleaned up and and struck down camp.
  • It was then lunch time and after that we had presentation of the House Cup and Badges. Rose
