Membership
The membership committee has eighteen members:
fourteen area membership
advisers, the awards adviser, the diversity adviser, the iMIS adviser and the provincial
adviser. The purpose of our committee is to recruit, retain, recognize and
reward new and current Members. To learn more about this committee and

a new
initiative for Alberta Council – If you recruit an adult or youth
member to Girl Guides, you can earn the She Belongs Too! badge.
- National
Registration Week - newly
posted resources for recruitment (you will need your iMIS number and
password to get into Memberzone)
- “A Guide to Booth Etiquette” – Hints and advice about how to present yourself, and Girl Guides of Canada, at trade shows and community events.
- "Put Some Sparks
In Your Life Kit" - Although this Kit is designed to assist you in recruiting Spark leaders, it is
full of hints and ideas that can easily be adapted to recruit leaders for any
branch.
- "You
Really Impress Me" Cards – A great idea, courtesy of BC
membership, that allows you to recruit anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Retain:
- Guiding
Units – A “How To” Guide for Multibranch Units
– Do
you want to start a unit in your community but don’t have enough girls
for one branch? Start a Guiding Unit with several branches meeting and
working together. This booklet tells you how to do it.
- Guiding
Unit Planner
– The
Manitoba Program Committee put together this wonderful tool listing how
all the girls programs interface. A must have for anyone with a Guiding
Unit!
- Start a Unit Kit - Do you need to open a new unit but you're not sure how to go about it? This kit contains step-by-step information including how to obtain financial assistance.
- Welcome booklet - An excellent resource for Guiders to use when starting up the Guiding year! Thanks to BC
membership for sharing this useful tool.
- Adult
and Volunteer Support Services Module 5 Awards - National Awards

Membership Pin - the Membership Pin celebrates the length
of time a person is a member of Girl Guides of Canada/Guides du Canada

stories by us, about us and for us. We are putting together a booklet of stories about our experiences in Guiding, both as girl and adult Members. They are funny, thoughtful, embarrassing and always entertaining. Some will be featured here for you to enjoy, but we are always looking for more. - Informal Appreciation Awards – Some simple and fun ways to say “Thank you!”
- Fun
Appreciation Awards - Here are some silly awards Guiders will
love and laugh at. They are easy to do, inexpensive and will be much
appreciated by those who receive them.
Diversity:
- The Diversity Challenge - The Diversity Challenge is intended to help Members learn more about themselves as well as others in their units, community, province, and around the world. It is branch specific with different activities for each group. It has been developed in three parts, which can be completed each year or independent of the others. Parts 1 and 2 are available now with Part 3 coming out in the fall of 2008. A special crest, which can be purchased from the Provincial
Office, has been designed for each part of the Challenge. The crests can be worn individually or joined together to make one large extraordinary crest.
- Nondenominational Graces – Five graces set to simple melodies that you can use with both girls and adults.
IMIS:
- Making it Work for You - to get what we want out, we have to put the right “stuff” in. Here are some hints and tips to help you with forms, training recognition and lots more.
- Forms – to get to the forms without having to use a
password, use the link to forms.
